A framework is presented in this publication to assist water supply authorities and councils in developing a demand management strategy. It draws on information gathered through research, surveys and workshops with a number of councils. The framework is not prescriptive but recognises that each council needs to consider what to do and how to implement demand management interventions, according to their own local context.
The report also guides the reader through the information needs and
decision making processes, involved in demand management. It outlines many of the interventions currently available and makes the case for the benefits of water conservation.
