Beacon

In the beginning phases of the Christchurch Breathe competition, the main catalysts were MBIE, Christchurch City Council and Beacon Pathway.  At the inception of the competition, representatives from these three organisations met with potential sponsors and supporters to introduce them to what they wanted to achieve.

Being able to tell a target sponsor that you already have buy in from a local council (Christchurch City Council) and a government agency (MBIE) proved a powerful motivator.  Industry sponsors were given confidence that the Breathe competition had high-level support, a unified vision, and would be delivered successfully.  Once a single industry/business sponsor has agreed to come on board, others often rapidly follow as they see evidence of the value of being involved (some are also motivated by ‘FOMO’ or Fear Of Missing Out)!
