Housing Matters 1: Setting the scene

Back to Resources

The Housing Matters series kicked off with a speaker and agenda that set the scene for the whole series.

David SheppardDavid Sheppard, past president of NZIA and a prominent Christchurch architect, presented a long-term vision for the city with a focus on the quality and affordability of homes and neighbourhoods.

This was followed by a sector discussion to explore the vision proposed and consider what cross-sector aspects would enable or impede progress.  What would achieving this vision mean to the sector participants?

Participants were asked to suggest and explore the most important elements to progress in the series (what would make the most difference? where should we focus our attention?).

Feedback from participants

“I’d like to see future workshops discuss consumer attitudes toward homebuilding and how we boost consumer engagement with, and confidence in, new home building.“

“It went well, and set a high bench-mark for the workshops which I expect will follow.“

“Look forward to the next one!“
